Sparks in magnetic fields

This simple experiment was performed to see if sparks from a ferrous material would be affected by the magnetic field of powerful neodymium magnets. A 60 joules capacitor was discharged into a small piece of iron to generate the sparks. After studying several pictures with and without magnets present it was not possible to detect any effect of the magnetic field. The sparks move fast and are very hot, it is likely that most if not all the spark material is above the curie temperature.
